Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers to the questions business owners ask us most.

Don’t see yours? Call 804-418-4414 or send a note. We answer the phone, even in tax season.

As a locally-owned Greater Richmond and Chesterfield Accounting & Tax firm, we’ve built our practice around a simple principle: taking the burden of financial management off your shoulders so you can concentrate on what you do best.

Do you work with established businesses over $1 million in revenue?

Yes, established, profitable businesses are our focus. We’re an especially strong fit for companies past $1 million in gross revenue or $300,000 in net income whose owners want a proactive, year-round tax strategy rather than a once-a-year return.

Can I actually reach my advisor during tax season?

Yes. Priority Advisory clients get year-round access to a real advisor, including the busy January-through-April stretch when many firms stop returning calls. When a time-sensitive question comes up, you won’t wait in line behind everyone else.

What’s the difference between tax preparation and tax advisory?

Tax preparation looks backward and reports what already happened. Tax advisory looks forward where we plan throughout the year to legally lower what you owe, structure your business efficiently, and head off surprises before they reach a return. Most profitable owners overpay simply because no one is planning ahead.

I already have an accountant, but feel ignored. Can you help?

That’s the most common reason owners come to us. If your current firm only surfaces at filing time and your questions go unanswered, you’ve likely outgrown a preparer and need an advisor. We make switching straightforward and handle the transition.

Do you handle both my business and my personal taxes?

Yes. For owners, business and personal taxes are inseparable. We coordinate your owner’s income tax planning with your business return so the two work together, which is often the single biggest source of missed opportunities.

When’s the best time to switch accountants?

Sooner than most people think. The earlier in the year we start, the more strategies are still on the table. Many tax-saving moves must be made before December 31, not discovered in April. That said, we onboard new clients year-round.

How could a profitable business be overpaying on taxes?

A few common culprits: staying a default LLC when an S-corp election would save thousands, leaving owner compensation unstructured, missing credits and deductions by not working with a year-round advisory team, reacting at filing time instead of planning year-round. We pressure-test all of these.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based in North Chesterfield and serve the greater Richmond region, and work with numerous out-of-state clients as well.

How do I get started?

Call 804-418-4414 or send a message through our contact form. We’ll start with a conversation about your business, your goals, and where you may be leaving money on the table and map out what year-round advisory looks like for you.
